PAPA ROACH Singer Confirms Drummer's Departure
January 30, 2008PAPA ROACH front man Jacoby Shaddix has issued the following update:
"Here I am home, and I don't know what to do with myself.
"I'm really excited to start writing again.
'We are going back to the Paramour [Mansion in Silver Lake, California] to write for a month. It's gonna be sick!!!
"We are going through a lot of changes right now... Change is good — it keeps things fresh.
"For y'all that don't know, we had to split with Dave [Buckner], our drummer. It was one of the hardest things we have ever had to do. He's taking this time to get his life together. We are still friends and still talk on a regular basis.
"The road is a hard place to live, and if you are falling apart, it will destroy you.
"He will be missed. But, on the other hand, life must go , and if you know anything about PAPA ROACH, adversity is the fuel for the flame. Nothing will ever stop us.
"Some of you might think we are crazy... You're right — we are.
"So here we are right where we need to be — at the bottom of another huge mountain. Which is fine by me."
Buckner originally took a break from touring with PAPA ROACH in the spring of 2007 due to what a press release called "personal matters," but singer Jacoby Shaddix gave The Pulse of Radio the straight story. "Dave, he went to rehab and went to go clean his act up 'cause he was out of his f***ing mind," Shaddix explained. "We were kind of tripping for a minute, but we were like, 'You know what? The best thing is for our friend to just get healthy, you know, get right.' My boy D-Boy's just gotta do a little soul-searching, you know? 'Cause I've been through that same s*** myself, and I've been down that road and that whole nine and it's like, you know, I know how miserable you could get."
Kramp and Adler of Milwaukee, Wisconsin's 102.1 WLUM conducted an interview with PAPA ROACH last year. Watch the six-minute clip below.
